Apart from all the skincare products and makeup tutorials, there is something else that is not talked about as much- body detox! Through detox, the body gets rid of the toxins that we acquire through the environment and consumption of junk food. While it is the liver’s primary job to flush out the toxins, it is beneficial to follow a healthy routine and take care of yourself. Water All of us have been reminded time and again just how important water is for the body. But water is also crucial if you are trying to rejuvenate yourself and get rid of the toxins. To do this, you should ideally consume 4-5 liters of water in a day. For those who struggle to drink a liter or two, it can take some getting used to. Drinking loads of water is a great way to flush out the toxins. It also helps in weight loss and adds new life to your skin while reducing the acne. You will notice that you have more energy overall. If drinking plain water gets boring, you can add some mint leaves, lemon wedges, or orange slices to mix it up! Catch them z’s Who doesn’t love staying in bed in the morning? Listening to people around you hurry to school and office while you are snuggled in bed is one of life’s blessings. Not many know the importance of sleep for a healthy mind and body. Sleep is said to be the perfect detox for your mind. While you sleep, the brain reorganizes and recharges itself. It also removes toxins that may have accumulated throughout the day. One such waste product or toxin is called beta-amyloid, which contributes to the development of Alzheimer’s disease. Say NO to processed goods Many research and surveys show that processed food and sugar intake is the number one cause of obesity. It is leading youngsters and grownups towards a health crisis. Consumption of unhealthy packed food is also linked to other serious illnesses like diabetes, heart issues, and cancer! These diseases also create hurdles in the body’s ability to get rid of the toxins naturally. Consuming sugary food or drinks could cause fatty liver, which can negatively impact liver function. When we think of junk or processed food, burgers and chips come to mind. But, pre-cooked or microwavable food items are also on the list. Work it out for body detox There is no bigger favor that you could do for your future self other than working out today. Saying yes to exercise is saying yes to a healthier life. Each drop of sweat that exits your body carries toxins. Did you know that our skin is capable of removing metals like mercury, lead, and arsenic through sweat? Exercise also helps to keep the weight under control. It makes your heart stronger while boosting your immunity. Through workouts, you can productively release all the stress and worry that you might have. Start where you are comfortable and work up from there. Give your stomach a break It seems like our stomach is constantly working to digest food. This is why late meals are highly discouraged as the stomach does not get any rest. Although the meal timings are not always under your control, it is good to fast once in a while. Intermittent fasting is also a good option, but it is not for everyone. You could try avoiding heavy meals and stick to veggies and fruits for a day or two. This detox diet will be easier to carry out during weekdays too. Giving the stomach some needed rest would allow it to rejuvenate. Along with the salad diet, you also have the option to go on a healthy smoothie or juice diet. There are too many things you could do to help your body get rid of all the toxins. But the gist of it all is to take care of your body. Eating right, exercising regularly, and getting ample sleep will not only remove the toxins but also strengthen the mental and physical part of your being which automatically does a body detox.
