Working Out with Your Bestie
Wellness and exercise is very much a trend in the modern world. A lot of people are going to the gym to get healthy, or spending time working out at home on their personal treadmills, or lifting weights in front of the mirror. Maybe you’re a regular of your weekend yoga class, or you like a brisk walk in the morning followed by some green smoothies. However, working out is often seen as a solitary activity; it’s a meditative experience that allows you to get in tune with and improve your physique.
But, it can honestly be so much more fun to try working out with your bestie! It’s a way of getting healthy that can be really beneficial for you for many different reasons.
Reasons You Should Work with Your Bestie
So here are some good reasons why you need to start working out with your bestie.
1. It’s a good motivator
Okay, we all want to get healthy, but not everyone wants to give up their precious hours that could’ve been spent on the couch watching tv or having a long phone chat with your friend. Exercise can be fun once you get into it, but you need that motivation to exercise. Aside from being a great company, your bestie can provide you with just that. Unlike when you carve out time to work out on your own, when you work out with your bestie, you’re obligated to them. You set a time to meet at someone’s house or the gym, and you can’t just be a fluke and not show up.
2. You’ll have a lot more fun
Your bestie won’t just give you some motivation to exercise, you’ll have so much more fun! Everything’s more fun with your good friends. Do some burpees or cardio together, lift weights, or do some heavy workouts watching videos. You could turn on some music and do some dancing too. It’ll be just as fun as movie-watching together, and you can burn some calories in the process. The road to get healthy has never been more of a kick!
3. You can spend time together
Everyone has such busy lives these days. With work and family, sometimes you can’t squeeze your girlfriends into your packed schedule, or they’re too busy to see you. But working out with your bestie is a great excuse to see them more regularly. You can catch up on all the gossip, and you’ll be doing something productive together at the same time! You won’t feel like you should’ve been working instead.

4. You could save money
If you’re in need of a trainer, you could try working out with friends. Trainers often give group discounts, and you won’t be spending as much as you would have if you simply signed up yourself. Working out with friends is way more fun than working out alone. You could have some friendly bets and competition, try to outdo each other, and you’ll all be getting healthy together! Spending time with your girlfriends is the best way to get in shape.
5. Working out with your bestie is more challenging
It might not seem like it but working out with your bestie can make you sit up and take things seriously. You’ll be encouraged to push your limits when you see someone else is doing a great plank. You can come up with friendly challenges to keep it fun. Maybe you can see who can go the longest when doing push-ups, or who can do the most jumping jacks. Try out some gymnastics to add a bit of fun. When you see someone else – especially your bestie – working hard, you’re tempted to get to work too. This is a great motivation to exercise, and exercise hard!
6. You’ll improve your technique
Not only is working out with them a great way to spend time with your girlfriends, but it’s also a great way to have someone point out to you if you’re doing something right or wrong. When you work out alone you don’t generally have enough self-awareness to know the specifics of what you’re doing right or wrong, but someone who’s watching you might have a better idea. Also, they won’t let you go overboard.
When you work out with someone, you’ll mutually agree when the limit is reached and you can’t stretch it any further, and you can take a much-deserved break. If you’re working out alone without anyone else, you might be tempted to push past your limits, which can be dangerous.

So working out with your bestie is actually a great way to stay healthy, not to mention a fool-proof way to spend more time together. So what are you waiting for? Pick up the phone and schedule an exercise time right now!
