While we sleep our body, digestive system, mind, and heart go into a relaxed mode. So having a glass of hot water first thing in the morning wakens our body cells and that is a good start to the day. 

It doesn’t mean boiling hot but just around 120 degrees Fahrenheit. Having too hot water is not good on an empty stomach. Make sure the hot water is not at a range of burning your tongue.
